We estimate your carbon footprint, then neutralize it using high-intregrity methods: we cause real reductions by buying and retiring traceable emissions permits from regulated markets equal to our customers' cominbed emissions. That prevents fossil fuel power plants and major industrial polluters from using them, forcing them to reduce emissions.

Boosting Energy Efficiency and Environmental Programs

By joining the Cooler Certified program, you not only neutralize your emissions but also contribute to a collective effort to fight global warming, and improve energy efficiency in participating states: proceeds from the sale of permits go to the participating states for state-based energy efficiency and renewable energy and environmental programs.

How It Works

Measure

We start by automatically measuring your estimated carbon footprint with our science-backed, Greenhouse-Gas (GHG) -compliant, automated carbon calculator. Over 75% of a business's emissions occur outside of your control (known as Scope 3 emissions), which makes it expensive and difficult to track and measure. Cooler developed an Economic Input-Output Life Cycle Assessment (EIO-LCA) model to estimate your emissions, which is the most accurate way to measure your carbon footprint.

Neutralize

Once measured, we help you neutralize your emissions through our automated, tangible, measurable approach: by pooling the efforts of all our customers, we purchase emissions permits that reduce the overall allowable emissions in the capped markets. It's almost like having a lever you can pull to lower emissions at power plants.

Eliminate

After we purchase the emissions permits, we retire them so they can't be used, and give you the traceable permit identification numbers in service of transparency. And just like that, you've reduced carbon emissions and have earned the Cooler Certified Emissions Reduction badge.
